Tom Nicon was a sweet and kind boy. I still can't believe he's gone. So sudden. And such a loss to all who knew and loved him.

Oddly enough, I had just emailed with Tom the weekend before Milan. After not seeing him for almost a year. We were by no means close friends but after meeting him at his first show (where the two of us sat texting his soon-to-be agent/my best friend) and a few dinners out in the East Village, an occassional "You alright?" on Facebook seemed to suffice.

I didn't know him well but I know I adored him.

We spoke of his photo studio in Paris where "Cole and Yuri hang out," along with his friend Jolijn. As well as his excitement about several good clients who had just shot there and a few that were organized in the weeks ahead.

We decided a post was in order (to promote the space) and agreed a photo from backstage with him and some of the guys holding a sign or something could be fun. Unfortunately it never came.

My deepest and most heartfelt thoughts go out to his family for their loss. He was a unique and beautiful soul and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Tom's family has extended an open invitation to anyone who wishes to join them in saying their last goodbyes.

I don't know about all of you, but I've stayed clear of all the BP-fucking up the environment-oil catastrophe. It's just so unbelievable I can't really even wrap my brain around it. And watching that little live-feed on the news with the oil gushing out makes me just wanna sit in front of the screen and pop Xanax.

So, I guess I'm not being a very responsible citizen by turning a blind eye to it, but I'm sorry turning on the TV and watching some woman in her garage in Louisiana recommending to the government that she thinks hay and hair will solve the problem, or the high school kid on CNN who thinks pouring cement over the top will clog it up...it's just too much for me to believe that this is where we are with this situation.

Hit the ground runnin' Tuesday night (and hard) with a VMAN party over at the Hudson Hotel to celebrate the launch of their latest Scandinavian issue. SO much fun. And so many faces from both New York and Copenhagen that I hadn't seen forever.The highlight for me was getting to hang with the legendary Pat Cleveland who, once I told I'd just flown in from Texas, shared stories with me about her time with Halston there in the 70's, doing trunk shows for Neiman Marcus (amazing!) I also loved the VMAN collage they'd done on an entire wall, which, for those of us who started with the mag from the beginning...it was sort of like a walk down memory lane.

So I got all the tech probs sorted (well, I'm able to blog anyways) after my meltdown last Friday (see post below.) Turns out Mercury is in Retrograde until the 11th of May. (Of course) I should've known.

Thanks to "Ted" who posted a response to my thread on the Blogspot forum asking for help with my font/color issues, along with the encouragement of an Anonymous commenter this morning (urging me to keep truckin' on) I decided to return to computer world and see if I could make some headway. Which, I have. So thank you both.

So. Why am I calling this post Twitpic.com with a pic of Johnny Cash flippin' the bird? Well, in hopes of having it show up on Google for the folks over at Twitpic to read, I would just like to, officially, state for the record how irritated and disappointed I am that Twitpic is now blocking people from posting their twtipics (literally blocking) on their (my) blog(s). Ya. It's true.

And I have no interest in using Twitpic or encouraging anyone else to use Twitpic any longer. (Though I'm leaving the Lick My Twit header up for now. In hopes that Twitpic will come to their senses and see the benefits of keeping users happy.)

As far as the Firefox issue, thanks for all your tips and suggestions on how to rectify the problems my upgrade brought on, but I've switched back to Safari. Which is just the same.

So for now, I'm back. (Though I wasn't blogging much anyways.) And for those of you who haven't read about my past probs on the V blog concerning Mercury in Retorograde and have no idea what that even means. Click here. (That shits true, yo!)

Tech Problems 2010

At this very moment Firefox has erased all of my bookmarks (including passcodes to all of my sites) and will no longer allow me to scroll "back" or "fwd". Twitpic (the thumbnails you usually see on this page to the right) has stopped working, and now the blog post I am working on will not remain black (the text) and even after I save as such, returns to grey. So I guess my question is:
WTF?!?!?

Am I the ONLY person in the world that seems to have NON-STOP tech problems??? And like basic shit! I mean, really?? My bookmarks are gone? REALLY?? I can't scroll back to the page I was just on??
At this point it's seriously ridiculous. Like a bad joke. And though Firefox gives me a whole list of instructions I can follow (which lead to reading thread after thread from other users who have experienced the same problem,) and Twitpic gives me a link to read to remedy that problem and, at this very moment, I'm waiting for the generosity of whoever is out there in Blogspot world that will take the time to answer the question I posted in the Help Forum as to why my text won't stay black, I have to say, I'm honestly over all of it. Like OVAH!

OH! And don't let me forget how even though I have gone through Facebook's reliable "Privacy Settings" over and over again (always checking the box that keeps strangers on the web from seeing my friends list,) I still received emails this week from friends saying "Do you know such and such? They requested me and they said they are a friend of yours." So how is that possible you may ask? Because Facebook, for some reason, insists on constantly changing our privacy settings (unbeknownst to us) always making our "private" info avail to the public. Time and time again.

So, A) Why can't shit just work? B) Am I turning in to the crazy old bitter queen overwhelmed and unable to deal with problems on his computer? and C) I'm over all this technology bullshit that we all bought in to and am convinced when shit stops working it's just a ploy on the part of those running these sites to get us to have to upgrade to the latest software (ie..the second my Firefox crashed I was immediately offered an upgrade for Google Chrome (the latest new browser) WHICH, of course, requires me to upgrade my OS X. Pfft..

So, I imagine I will (very soon) adopt the mindset of the cute little old neighbor couple I have next to me back home...no computer, no internet, no BBM, Twitter, Twitpic or social network of any kind (not even an answering machine or cell phone) and just go back to keeping it simple.

MAC Cosmetics christened their new South Beach location last-night with a big bash complete with body-painting and naked models. Like NAKED naked. (The cater waiters weren't bad either.) It was on the rooftop of the new building I twitpic'd a couple weeks ago and local DJ Maynard kept it all goin!

The models were total troopers (sans the one douche-bag who was upset people were photographing him from behind) considering the wind. It was a perfect South Beach-rooftop-party. And big shout-out to make-up artist Christian Mitchell and his team who did a great job!

In town to co-host the Met Ball with Nicole Kidman, his H&M line had just sold out worldwide and (as everyone from New York Magazine to The Post was reporting) he was on the hunt for some Manhattan digs.

In celebration of his newly published book of drawings, Chanel Then Now, we threw a party for him downtown at Visionaire. Everyone from Yoko Ono and Inez and Vinoodh to Mario Testino and Linda Evangelista came out to play, and me (with my video cam) runnin' around like a crazy man filming it all.

NY Fashion Week FW10

So New York fashion week FW 2010 has kicked off and no you won't be seeing me. It's the first one I've missed since I started backstage but, I'm sorry, I can't imagine adding three feet of snow to an already crazy-busy stressful week.

So, in lieu of posting a pic of me laying in the sun on the beach down here in Miami, I'm giving you a shot from two of my favorite sweeties- Abbey Lee Kershaw and Kasia Struss (from one of their many fittings) who are just two of the many girls who have said they will send pics down throughout the week (we'll see how long that lasts.)

Lee McQueen 1969-2010

Like everyone, I too was shocked and saddened yesterday morning to learn of the tragic and sudden death of the designer and artist Lee McQueen. I found out on my way out the door and wasn't able to watch the news unfold throughout the day, so it wasn't until late last-night, in bed with my laptop, I was able to take it in and hear all the lovely tributes pour in from around the world from those who knew and admired his work.

Calling him simply a "genius," or a "visionary," or even "fashion's brightest star," seems almost cliche in light of all he did and meant to the world and fashion, but the truth is, he was all of those things. And so much more.

There is not enough that can be said about Lee Alexander McQueen. Except that there has never been and will never be another like him.

The Red Carpet Issue features interviews with some of the biggest players from Paris to NY to LA and captures amazing footage with firsthand accounts from those who's work directly impacts both worlds.

So I popped over to the Mondrian Friday night for Wilhelmina Miami's big season-blowout, and lemme tell ya, the kids were givin it! SO much fun. In fact, I had such a good time I couldn't even make it to the second (late-night) half of the evening which was over at Liv at the Fontainebleau Hotel, and apparently went late into the night.

Brooke Hogan was there and is very sweet, however, has NO gaydar whatsoever. Explaining to her who was there for more than to find out who she was wearing, and who was not, made my night. Matthew Coatsworth and Myles Pimental showed up so I threw 'em all together and grabbed a shot. The whole night was a total blast! Thanks Willy! Pics up on Facebook.

Gossip Girls

Check this out. So I'm flickin' through an old folder of images the other night (still working on my website that's said COMING SOON for the last year) and I see, what appears to be, Ed Westwick. Nah, couldn't be. Gossip Girl's only been on television a few years and these pics are from the SS08 after party for The Cast, which took place back in September of o7. So, I don't think anything of it.

That is until I come across this shot of Chase Crawford a few minutes later. So, basically what you're looking at are two "Pre-Gossip Girl-fame" shots, of two cute guys in a crowd. That I just happen to notice. And photograph. Even funnier, if you flick through the slideshow from that night, they're not even mentioned.

And speaking of Gossip Girls. Last Summer I shot Jessica Szohr for Teen Vogue. I was gonna do a post on her but had to wait until the issue came out and by that time I was on hiatus. She's a lot of fun FYI, we had a really good time.
