Wooooo Magazine

If you haven't heard of Wooooo Magazine (five o's) don't feel bad, it's definitely a New York thing. Those "in the know" don't even know about it. Popular amongst the downtown-set (of the Editor sort) and smart-asses around the globe, Jason Crombie's candid and off-beat interviews not only keep his subjects on their toes, but allow complete freedom for those who are usually on the other side of the process.

I popped by the launch party Friday night (to mess-up Jason's hair and check out the shot I'd done of Christopher Bollen) and was pleasantly surprised to see, first, Aggy on the cover, followed by a room full of people I love. Aoife Wasser, Christopher Bartley, Jorge Garcia, Janice Yu, Jason Duzansky, KT Auleta and Sloan Laurits, William Van Meter, Grace Koo, Jessie Ashlock, Alexis Swerdloff and too many others to mention. Along with a handful of cute bearded intellectual types, who's names I never got.

For more on this pocket-sized-must-read go to Wooooomag.com. (And please forgive the small amount of photos, I was having so much fun I couldn't be bothered to shoot.)

CK Jeans FW 09

Every season I shoot the CK presentation and every season it's on a cold-ass icky morning. The good news is I always leave with a big smile on my face. And of course how can you go wrong with Jamie Jewitt and Danny Schwarz? Who are just as funny as they are hot. Throw new-face (and CK Creative Director Kevin Carrigan's latest muse-in-a-suit) Rob Thurston up in there and you got a good time.

And once again, every season, there's always a girl I love. This time around it was Next's Cody Horn, who is not only beautiful but very sweet. Greg Kessler, Josh Reed, the one and only Vlad, Brittain Ward, Sean Harju, Request's new face Hakan, Mark Cox and many more. Click here for pics.

Modelinia.com

Here's a fun new site for you! It's called Modelinia and they have tons of great content. They've just completed a soft launch and will be upgrading the site's navigation soon, but the site runs the gamut on all things "model." From Ali Stephens's closet to this UBER camp action-series that stars Heidi Klum as a superhero with Coco as her sidekick.

Crazy-Ass-Day

I had the craziest-ass day last week. It started with a whole lot of running around in the cold and ended with a handful of my favorite faces. Lunch with Catherine in Soho...

...snapping a couple shots of DNA's new-face Nick Gonko...

...caught up with Eddie on the L out in Bedford...

...and then home just in time for two of my favorite things. Family Guy and Jakob Wiechmann.

The Hookies

I didn't think twice when Mr. Mickey asked me to come play and watch him present at Rentboy's 2009 Hookie's Awards. That is until I got home and explained to my roommate's sweet girlfriend (who's young and never been exposed to someone like me) what they were. "Wait, so there's an award for the best...male prostitute?" She said in disbelief with her cute little accent.

And of course it was everything you'd think it would be. A bar filled with hot men and all the horny patrons who love them. Michael Musto, Linda Simpson, Lady Fag, Douglas Perrett, those two cute boyfriends from Shortbus and a surprise appearance by Tim Blanks, who was in shock the entire time (notice Mickey's gay hand.) Highlights for me were super-hottie Jason Crew and super-hung Barrett Long. Patrick McMullan was there and had me in stitches the entire night.

WWD Men's

WWD Men's Magazine has just put out a list of their Top 10 walkers for the FW season. Topping the list is Tyler Riggs with 29 shows (30 if you count his stopover in Florence.) Also gaining recognition are Lenz, newcomer Jakob Hybholdt, and one of my favorite faces to photograph, Philip Bierbaum. Click the image to read the fine print.

(More) Toni Garrn

I didn't run these shots of Toni with the Anna Sui post because I wanted to show how beautiful she's become and how much fun she can be.

There's something refreshing about someone who doesn't take themselves too seriously.

And it's easy to see why all the boys have major crushes on her. "Toni..Toni..," that's all I ever hear.

bringseanhome.org

Major movement last week in the ongoing case of David Goldman -vs- the Brazilian Government. For those of you who don't know, he's the father from Jersey who's ex-wife fled the country (taking their son with her) to her Brazilian homeland and then died, leaving a nasty custody battle between he and the boy's new (powerful and legally connected) stepfather.

He has been continuing his fight for his sons return (with much resistance from Brazil) and though I just read in The Post over the weekend that Obama brought up the subject in talks with Brazil's President Luiz Inacio (shit for brains) Lula da Silva, Obama was told "the decision would be left to the courts."

So why am I writing about this?? Because I think it's a travesty and I still cannot believe this guy has not gotten his son back yet! And I think it's incomprehensible that Obama would accept that as a response. AND because you and I can actually take 3 minutes and do something about it. It's simple. Go to bringseanhome.org and sign a petition that, along with much public support, may actually help in the boy's return.

The whole thing is disgusting and after many failed attempts, the step-father (who's father is a powerful judge), has refused to comply with this investigation and the Brazilian government has done nothing but let him get away with it.

Sergio Tostes
, who is the acting attorney on behalf of the stepfather, said in Sunday's Post "The Americans are overstepping their bounds, and this is going to be very embarrassing for the United States." Really Sergio Tostes?? You think this is embarrassing for the United States?? So if a Brazilian citizen fled to the U.S. with her son and then died, and the child's natural father fought for his return, that would be embarrassing for Brazil?? Really you moron?!?

If you're as outraged by this as I, and so many others seem to be, then click here and watch the video to learn more.

Twitter

Here we go again. Yet another upgrade in our (already complicated) virtual lives. Having learned my lesson with the whole "I'll never join Facebook" comment, I'm gonna hold off on slamming it just yet, but HELLO?!? Twitter?!? WTF? Are we so plugged in to the web that we now require up-to-minute updates on what's going on?

I'd say if anything came from our recent four weeks of fashion coverage, it's Twitter. EVERYONE's doing it, from COACD to The New York Times. For the most part I've avoided it, simply because there's no-one's every move I'm that interested in. So imagine my horror when it reared it's ugly head on Facebook last week.

If you weren't in Paris being fabulous, you surely noticed the explosion that took place on the web with Facebook's new re-design. Amazing what a simple change to our interface can do to some people.

Samantha Ronson writes "Why is facebook trying to be twitter? I wanna tell Facebook "you're better than that, you don't have to do this!" Where Julia Frakes apologizes for the "constant status updates which read like Twitter," yet continues to indulge. Mixed with "I dig the real time!" and "Take that Twitter!", it would appear not everyone is in resistance. Except for Marcus Hedbrandh who, like me, asks "What the hell facebook? Seriously."

Konstantin Konstantin offers up this interesting little tid-bit of info:

"
facebook is not as safe as people think - the reason is technical but this is why. the apps people add to their facebook page are downloaded from other companies computers and facebook doesn't keep track of them to see if those companies apps have viruses. that's why recently people on facebook got infected with viruses. on myspace all the apps are on the myspace companies computers and they can check the apps for viruses and security also facebook tried to buy twitter before and twitter didn't want to sell so that may explain some things"

Interesting, no?
I'd say I've either gotten a bad bag or I'm spending way too much time online.

V58

I shot a fun little casting page for the new issue of V. Which I snapped a shot of in the binder one night over at the office before the issue went to print. We did it in about 2 hrs. late one night and, for me, it's all about Major's Travis Hanson, my favorite VMAN Ford Models finalist Aiden and Supreme's new Russian youngin' Ranya Mordanova, who just debuted in Paris exclusively for Givenchy.

David Shields

There was a span of time back in the 90's where any male model that passed through Milan shot with photographer David Shields. He was actually my first test when I hit Europe and has remained a good friend to this day. He's working back in AUS at the moment but before taking off I was chillin' at his pad one day while he finished up his edit for a story he'd just shot with of my favorite beauties, Ali Stephens. "I don't wanna see it til it's out," I told him as I avoided the screen on his computer. Well, it's out. LOVE it Dave! Great job!

Max and Suzanne

I shot model Suzanne Diaz for three seasons under the assumption she was Venezuelan. Mistaking her shy demure personality for a language barrier, I was blown away to learn she was actually a ballerina from Southampton! (Could I have been more off?) She and her boyfriend Max have started a clothing line and after flicking through the lookbook, I'd say her roots could not be more apparent.

Designing timeless and classic dress-wear, the line is more about quality of production, fit (with an emphasis on material) and less about passing trends. The brand was created from the idea of the "perfect dress shirt for men," and has evolved to fitted women's shirts, shirt dresses, tank dresses, and bibbed unisex shirts. I love an old school preppy line and if the quality is good that's even better yet!

And I love Suzanne Diaz! Congrats Guys!

Max and Suzanne.

Anna Sui FW 09

At first I didn't know whether to call this post "Anna Sui FW 09" or "Pat McGrath," since the make-up, for me, had such an impact on the show. The girls looked and felt gorgeous! Usually when I edit film there's like..a good one..an okay one...and then, hopefully, a great one. However, going over the pics that night I couldn't figure out why, consecutively, I had one great shot after another for each girl.

It certainly wasn't the lighting, or anything I had done. So it had to be the make-up. It was the one common denominator throughout the shots and the girls seemed to respond to Pat's magical touch. For now, here's a few from the edit, but I'll plan on doing some outtakes down the road. They all looked amazing!

Backstage Marc By Marc

So what you have here is a bunch of nonsensical running around backstage at Marc By Marc with a handful of cute boys. Jonas telling Rogier he's an idiot, Robby trying to annoy people and James sticking out his tongue. Hardly worthy of airtime, I know, however I figured since people seem to enjoy watching models do ANYTHING and no one seems to get enough of Cole, I couldn't let it go to waste.

Proenza Schouler FW 09

So Proenza wins my "Worst Pics I Shot All Week" award. I don't know what happened. They all looked great at the time, but then when I got home and saw them on my laptop, they looked like shit. Like, bad lighting...bad coloring..ugh. Not all of them, just most.

Honestly, I think it's because it was the funnest backstage I'd been to all week and I just couldn't be bothered to shoot. FINALLY good food, Tim Blanks, Sean Cunningham and Raquel, who I basically spent the entire time catching up with outside and never even bothered to grab a shot of. I did manage to get a good one of Georgina, however, who always looks great.
