Flashback: Dillon Arango

Years ago I shot 18 year-old Dillon Arango. If not for his father's insisting he attend medical school, I am certain this 6' 1" Columbian hottie would have graced the catwalks of the world's top designers. Dillon still takes bookings through Elite Miami, but for me, he will always be the one that got away.

Perez Hilton

Having never been a fan of Paris Hilton, it's clear why I would not have any interest in checking out a website devoted to her namesake. However, after reading Sunday's piece in The New York Times on the self-proclaimed "Queen of all Media," I thought I'd log on and see what all the fuss was about.

I don't know much about this West Coast queen, but having spent some time with my bong going through his site, I think he's hysterical. Who cares what he looks like or that he draws little white trails of cocaine on people's faces? He has obviously been smart enough (in this celebrity-obsessed, media-driven world we live in) to fill a void and strike gold with what has turned out to be a very lucrative niche.

I'm glad there's a Perez Hilton to say all the things everyone's thinking. Who else is going to put all those over-inflated egos in check? And if the Hollywood celebrities are now not wanting to lie in the beds they've made, then they should just do us all a favor and disappear.

After laughing my ass off at the post he did on Lauren Hill, you can expect his daily 2.6 million worldwide hits to go to 2.6 million and one! There, I said it. I'm a Perez Hilton fan.

Outtakes: Tiger Tyson

It doesn't get any more THUG than Brooklyn born and raised, local Puerto Rican boy, Tiger Tyson. After weeks of juggling our schedules, we were finally able to meet up. Tyson is not only laid back, but shares my love for the savory taste of a good blunt, making for a very chill afternoon. Cornering the market on homeboy porn, this young industry vet not only has a cult following but an entertainment empire that bares his name. For all of you out there who have been requesting a little "flava," this one's for you!

Tiger's outtakes left me questioning my "no nudity" policy. You would not believe!

Creepy Candy

OMG! Leave it to Style.com to add another feature to their site as a way to bombard us with yet more annoying ads. However this one is a MUST SEE! Or hear, rather. It's called "Candycast" and it's basically Style.com's very own Candy Pratts Price sitting in her office dictating, "What we love and what we want!" It's so creepy to watch an animated Candy while listening to that voice, but I must warn you her enthusiasm is contagious.

"Take a look at grey!", she exclaims. "Always chic, always right and always, always mandatory!" Hysterical.

Obedient Sons

Reminiscent of old school rugby clubs, Obedient Sons' S/S 08 Kingstown Mutiny collection shapes up more like a day in the Hamptons for young men with style than a downtown menswear line. Which is what it is.

The legendary unisex Kingstown Mutiny Rugby Team hailed from a close-knit community around Kingstown, North Carolina, and participated in the International Tournament of the Isles. Designer Swaim Hutson designed this collection to respect their rebellious attitude and strict gamesmanship, which is reflected in the precision tailoring and unique appeal.

This collection is as sophisticated as it is diverse, with everything from drop-shoulder jackets, athletic sportswear, long cardigan vests, sweat pants (both cut-off and full length) to hoodies, crew-neck jumpers, tanks and tees. And if all that isn't enough they even do short suits complete with cumber bun and bow-tie. What a range!

This unisex collection debuts during NYC Fashion Week on September 7th. See you there!

Lagerfeld Blues

By the time Paris rolled around, everyone had been sick but me. As the only collections I would be shooting in Paris were Karl Lagerfeld and Chanel, I was looking forward to three days of Parisian "play" between the two shows. Unfortunately it didn't work out that way. It was time to pay the Piper, or the fat lady, or whoever it is you pay when your number's up.

If it wasn't for the homeopathic whatever it was Karl kept having Sebastian give me, I never would've made it through the week. For three days I laid in my hotel room wrapped around the toilet (which is where I slept), burning up with a fever, only moving for the chicken broth that room service brought up twice a day. I had watched them drop like flies the past few weeks. Each new country, each new show, each girl eventually fell victim. In fact, I can't think of a single girl over the month of February that wasn't sick at one time or another.

Thank GOD it happened the last week of the shows, with three free days between the two. By the morning of Chanel it was all gone. Regardless of how much fun I had backstage at this show, whenever I see these photos I instantly feel a fever coming on.

Rihanna

I think Rihanna's cool. I remember seeing her host some MTV thingy on the tube one night and I thought she was a fresh alternative to all the blondes that were being crammed down our throats at the time. With catchy tunes such as "SOS" and "Ponce de Replay", this Bajan born beauty reaches new heights with her recent summer hit "Umbrella", featuring Jay-Z.

If your a fan, check out her interview in this month's Paper Magazine. You can read about how she wants to be the next Madonna. Can you imagine...wanting to be like Madonna?

Dinner at KT's

KT Auleta is not only known for taking beautiful photographs, but did you know she can also whip up a mean bowl of pasta? Every so often my favorite gal pal invites all of us "recipe inept" over for an impressive spread and a good time, complete with bow-tie and red wine. Unfortunately the camera didn't come out until late in the night so many who were present did not make it on film.

The diners at hand included Sloan Laurtis, Neal Fenton, Kate Sennert, James Valeri, Alex Hawgood, Maki Rioke, Patrik Ervell, Elizabeth Yarborough, Shun Watanabe, Brian Molloy and half a dozen hipsters I was too out of it to introduce myself to.

That obnoxious person ducking from my lens is none other than Alex Hawgood, who whether I'm chasing him around art openings or during fashion week, never lets me take his picture. Evidently this has rubbed off on Patrik
(who's just as shy as he is cute), in trying to get him to let me snap a shot using Elizabeth's hair as a wig. So thanks Hawgood.

And thank you KT, for another fun night!

LAX ART

LAX ART founder Lauri Firstenburg (one of the few things I liked about LA) is serving up some pretty fun art out in Culver City this summer. Case in point, Charles Gaines' Greenhouse, a sculptural enclosure placed within the gallery that shifts lighting and atmospheric conditions according to computer generated air pollutant measurements collected from the Los Angeles basin.

A nearby computer converts local air pollutant measurements into voltage that then controls the intensity of four colored lights and a fog machine placed within the simulated greenhouse. Linked to a website that records the Los Angeles basins air quality, the computer takes readings at set intervals to change the amount of voltage fed to each light and the dispersal of atmospheric haze. How cool is that?

Greenhouse can be seen July 19th-August 30th

I logged on to the blog at a friends office today and was horrified to see how it pulls up using Internet Explorer. What a nightmare! No right hand column, several party pages missing from the left and only ten posts on the entire page?

Outtakes: Reese Rideout

As promised, each Monday I will post a few "Outtakes" from whomever I happened to get my hands on the Friday before, for my "JD Ferguson Presents the Porn Stars" series over at Papermag.com.

How many of you porn die-hards guessed the second half of my favorite online porn duo would be Reese Rideout? If you did that means your a Randy Blue fan and just as happy to see him here as I was when he showed up at my door. What a little hottie he is.

Reese, and last week's first half Chris Rockway, popped by on their way to the airport headin' back out West. I have to say it was a little surreal to have the two of them here together. I would've taken either one of them seperately, though both at the same time was a pleasant surprise. I am almost forty, after all.

Tammy Faye RIP

No one was more of a survivor than Tammy Faye Messner...god love 'er. With her indelible spirit and unique spunky nature she survived major scandal through the late 80's and early 90's. However, even the spirited Tammy Faye could not overcome her battle with cancer and unfortunately has gone to that great big make-up counter in the sky. After eagerly awaiting her interview with Larry King last week, I was shocked and devastated to see how badly she had been suffering. But it was her impressive unshakable faith and kind heart that kept her strong to the bitter end. God Bless Tammy Faye!

Soccer Saturday

Who knew hipsters and models could play soccer? I was less surprised to see my favorite model Arthur K playing than the bearded artists from the East Village, who normally don a pair of black skinny jeans. If you were anywhere near the West Side on Saturday, then surely you noticed all the excitement coming from the ADIDAS-sponsored 6th Annual Fanatic Tournament on the rooftop of Pier 40.

With such teams as Nom de Hooligans, The Tokion Sports and Leisure Club, FC Vice, BIG Magazine (aka Real Big) and Tribeca Grand & Cafe Gitane, there was plenty to gawk at. Not to mention the killer music, BBQ, kegs of beer and most of all cute boys.
Be sure to check out the Polish hottie in the purple shirt. LOVE!

How much f*cking money can one person have? My god, $250 million he's getting for his move to L.A., not to mention the fat chunk of change he banked when he was with Real Madrid. She had money before her Spice Girl millions, hence Posh Spice, and she's only set to make more with the popularity of her new television show. AND, she's skinny! What a biotch.

3.1 Phillip Lim

Popped over to Soho Tuesday night for Veuve Clicquot's in-store celebration and dinner for the opening of 3.1 Phillip Lim.What a party! And what a beautiful space. Ten out of ten of the friends I ran in to, en route to the Mercer St. locale, all said the same thing, "He's so nice!" And they were right. His clothes are chic yet simple, very wearable, at times elegant, lots of textures and mixing of fabrics and best of all, affordable!

The music was off the hook, the crowd was the perfect mixture of uptown meets downtown, the bubbly was flowin' and I am officially obsessed with all the young, beautiful women that work in fashion. Having entered the magazine world south of Houston, I had not yet been exposed to this new strain of savvy, young working girls. They were like Mary Tyler Moore but tanner with highlights. All this time I've been hangin' out with bitchy fashion queens and it turns out it's all about an Uptown Girl!

Anna Wintour, Debra Messing
(who is SO fun-FYI), John Legend with girlfriend Christine Teigen, Amy Astley, Steven Kolb (who just gets better and better looking), Amanda Cutter Brooks
(Gorg!), Sally Singer (cool as shit), Hamish Bowles, Shirin von Wulffen (LOVE) with hubby Fredric Fekkai, Virginia Smith, Meredith Melling Burke, Eugene Tong, The Misshapes, Keegan Singh, Genevieve Jones (with the cutest boy EVER!), Joe Zee, Jessica Joffe, David Neville and Marcus Wainwright, Damien Nunes, Derek Blasburg and many, many more.

It's easy to see why people have such love for this CFDA Award recipient and I am predicting big things for Phillip Lim the the future. 3.1 Phillip Lim! Get to know it!

BIG UP's to Erin Roberts and Team La Force and Stevens, who totally rocked it out!

The Beauty of V48

I'm wetting myself for V48. Check out these f-king covers! Christy Turlington (who never seems to age) and Raquel Zimmerman (a total bad-ass) grace the covers of this epic issue; as just two of thirty-four women of the moment, selected for a "study of beauty" shot by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.

Never before has the power of transformation in fashion been more evident as in this sixty-eight page spread, which finds each girl shot first
au natural, and second, styled over the top by Joe McKenna. With Tom Pecheux on make-up and Luigi Murenu doing hair, how can you possibly go wrong?

It's stories like this (that offer more than just pushing product) that not only make Inez and Vinoodh the geniuses they are, but keep
V Magazine at the forefront of an industry that at times leaves much to the imagination.

V48 hits newsstands July 20th!

Outtakes: Chris Rockway

Several months ago I was booty called via text message from a rather famous porn star."In town. One day. Same number." Known for his XL endowment, he had grown quite accustomed to my legendary skills. So of course I had to call my girlfriend Mickey Boardman over at Paper Magazine and rub it in her face that those infamous 11" would once again be mine.

"Shoot him! Shoot him! And then interview him!", she shrieked.

So I did. Well, sort of. Those particular 11" didn't make it on the plane, so I called in a pinch hitter (another 11") thus kicking off Papermag's feisty Friday series "JD Ferguson Presents the Porn Stars." Every Friday they post a photo and interview of whomever I happen to get my hands on that week. The following Monday, I will post a few of my own. And I must say, as tempting as it is to post the x-rated shots (What? You thought I only shot them in underwear?), I'm gonna make you wait for the book.

Jumpstarting my very own "Outtakes" series is Randy Blue superstar Chris Rockway, who I have since become completely obsessed with. What a beefy hunk he is and 100% man, which we L-O-V-E! He was very cool and I enjoyed picking his brain about what it's like to be straight and doing gay porn.
And as if having the opportunity to shoot Chris Rockway wasn't enough he was accompanied by his on-screen "partner in crime" and my second favorite thing about online porn.

Needless to say the three of us had a good time. Enjoy!

Milk Studios/Spin Magazine

Ran in to my ol' pal Jen Schram over at Milk Studios yesterday who invited me to their annual summer BBQ blow out which was hosted by Milk's one and only wild man Rassi (with beer bong in tow) and Spin Magazine. What a night, holy shit! The Milk crew throws down. And hard! For those of you that have never been or couldn't get in, FYI it's the rockin-est party of the summer!

Between the live music, cute skateboarders, ever-flowing kegs of beer and the hot dogs I endlessly crammed down my throat, I was like a pig in shit. Mariachi Mexico Lindo started the night off followed by Against Me, who kept the party rockin' late in to the night.

What a way to kick off the summer. Supermodels, cute boys, free food, the legendary Mick Rock and one of my all-time faves, fellow Texan, Brigdet Hall. BIG UP's to Rassi and gang for a great night and count me in for next year!

BUTT #20

I f-king love BUTT Magazine! It's like the chic handbook for gays in the know. And not just the bubble butt bottoms over in Chelsea (though they are people too). But like art fags and fashion queens, chubby chasers and twinks, bears and trannies and hot boys from Paris to Peru. It seems you can always tell who "gets it" or not by whether they are aware of this pocket-sized pink pub that sits on the cutting edge of all that is now. Here's what BUTT had to say about this summer's must have:

"It’s a special summer L.A. issue. Went there, seen it, done that, and made an issue that’s dedicated to all the dudes that make L.A. the special place it is for fags who don’t want to grow up. There are interviews with Jeff Burton, Javier Peres, and Gore Vidal, amongst others, as well as contributions by BUTT buddies like Matthias Vriens, prvtdncr and Dino Dinco."

All those hours sweatin' it backstage and I am just now having brunch with Diesel's PR goddess Kim Dillard, who was fresh off the party track from The Guggenheim's, appropriately titled, First Friday's dance party. Since 2005 The Guggenheim has teamed up with Flavorpill to bring a diverse assortment of musicians, performers and DJ's and this past friday was no exception.

DJ Justine D of Motherfucker and Studio B and Nu-Disco DJ Jacques Renault kept the place pumping on Piotr UklaƱski's colorful interactive disco dance floor from The Shapes of Space exhibition. Sounds like fun, no?

She's real, self-deprecating and very funny! Erik Rhodes makes his "mainstream" television debut when he jumps up on stage, takes his shirt off and gives Kathy some lovin'! She totally killed it!

Hosting the "Oscars" of the porn industry could not have come at a better time for Kathy, as she recently lost her beloved father (who I loved). Who better to put a smile on your puss than a bunch of hot, horny men? Rest assured Kathy, he now has the best seat in the house!

Paris Hilton

So here's my obligatory Paris Hilton post. Caught her interview last night on Larry King Live, I guess if I cared about Paris Hilton at all I would have caught it live last week with the rest of the country. The best part is when Larry asks Paris her favorite passage from the bible. Classic.

She managed to keep it together but her responses all seemed like regurgitated sound bites and I would rather she had concrete future plans to report on as opposed to:
"I'm going to take time to think about how I can help."
Was she not just sitting in a jail for three weeks?

Surprisingly she was the full hour on Anderson Cooper immediately after the interview which i found so interesting.
Isn't there a war going on?

Thank god for the Monica Lewinsky's, Heidi Fleiss's and Paris Hilton's of the world, I don't know what people would watch.
